"Sam"

So....better give ya a head's up that this post is going to be pretty gross.

I have had an issue with a saddle sore since March. It's right on my bikini line. Training for a 12 hour, indoors, can do that to you. I went on antibiotic ointment for a month, then oral antibiotics in April, DR appt a week later, she referred me to Doc #2, who said "we're gonna treat this like MRSA" and gave me more oral antibiotics! I called my pharmacy and found out this was the same RX Doc #1 gave me in APRIL!

FUCK!

So I have named this fucking thing. OB and I refer to it as "Sam". (Coach has to know about these things and believe me, he is used to it). I can't ride. Every time I ride it flames up. I squeeze shit out of it everyday. And it hurts. I want it gone once and for all.

Doc #2 said that if I had to get it cut out, I could be off the bike 6 weeks.

6 weeks?????

No no no no. Not now.

This cannot be happening.

I swam today. I'd rather be riding though.

Yikes... sounds painful! And getting it cut off... even worse! Good luck with that girl!

How was the swim... obviously sunny! :)

Sorry about Sam.

Antibiotics will allow you to burn like that. I hope that doesn't stay long.

I'm still suffering from saddle soreness from a 24hr race I did 2 weeks ago. Not as badly as you are though thankfully.

I'm loving the tan lines. Thankfully (being male) I don't have bra line marks. I do have a lovely line across my forehead from my helmet and white patches on my hands from my gloves.

Judi, you've lost weight....you okay?

Nothing hurts more than that, yikes I can only imagine (but don't really want to).

Look after yourself and cover UP against the sun!

I've had MRSA and it suuuuuucks. They should culture it to see what antibiotic to use before you go under a knife. Hope you heal sooner than later.

Funny, that's about what my daughter looked like when she got home from her swim party yesterday! Y'all both need some sunblock!

Have you tried a hot compress on Sam?

I hope it heals up. OUCH.
Obviously you're swimming outside - in a lake, I assume???? Do you think the water (aka bacteria in the water) might be keeping your sore infected? I only ask because our ocean here is so gross that my surfer friends easily get infected sores from it.

God what a gross discussion, but it's life :)

holy crap girl ... two words: spray sunscreen (helps with the hard to reach spots!) OUCH.

and you gotta get off the antibiotics. they will mess with your system.

there has to be some sort of homeopathic remedy for sam.

MRSA ... I (very) vaguely recall a friends' son that had a staph infection ... he had to take bleach baths I think. Weensy weensy bit of bleach in bath water. Sounds kinda freaky & I don't know if I am remembering right ... I'd google it.

I swear by exfoliating with a loofah to prevent saddle sores. If I feel one coming on I loofah it harder. I would keep draining it and hitting it with hydrogen peroxide.

I think EPO gets rid of them to!

I had a nasty MRSA infection and the oral antibiotics are a joke. To get better from a nasty MRSA infection, you need an IV drip of vancomycin. It's nasty. The nurse puts on all this protective gear before administering it. You have to get at least two rounds of the IV on two separate days, maybe three. Good luck. -jojothedogfacedboy
